During September, 4th class read an excerpt from the book "The Coming of the Iron Man". We were then inspired to create robots from recyclable materials. We created these in small groups and our creative sides came out in our designing and making. Here are the finished products.
Trees in our school environment
On Wednesday 22nd October 4th class had a visit from a tree expert named Michael Burke. During our walk around the school Mr. Burke informed the children of the names of the variety of trees found around the school environment. He also gave the children some fascinating facts about the trees. Aswell as this, he gave the children lots of facts and information about other weeds and plants. We are very lucky in Cloghroe N.S. to be surrounded by such a wealth of trees and plants.

We learned the steps to "The Walls of Limerick" and the whole school held a "Céilí Mór" where we danced together and had lots of fun. We also put lots of effort into speaking "as Gaeilge" for Seachtain na Gaeilge.
Trip to the Lifetime Lab
At the end of April, 4th class pupils got to visit the Lifetime Lab in order to take part in a Science workshop based on Forces. The children explored how moving air can make things move, how magnets can make things move by pushing or pulling magnetic materials and how objects can be moved by using pulleys. They also explored air resistance and got the chance to design and make some parachutes. The workshop also contained many other hands-on activities in which the children got to put into practice what they had learned about the topic. Students also got to have a picnic outside and enjoyed some time in the well-equipped playground at the Lifetime Lab. It was a very enjoyable and educational day.
