Table Tennis
In September 2013 pupils at Cloghroe N.S. noticed table-tennis tables appearing adjacent to the main hall. Their curiosity was aroused and they were delighted when a few weeks later coaching was introduced into the school , thanks to Ben Haughton ,a local trained coach with I.T.T.A., who offered not only to train the pupils, but provided the tables as well. Ben has coached the skills of the game to a very high standard and the pupils have competed in many competitions, winning the Munster Primary Schools Competition and taking silver in the All-Ireland.
As it was a new sports skill and fitted well into our Games Strand in P.E., the school arranged for pupils from third to sixth to receive coaching modules of approximately six weeks duration.
Training takes place both during the school day and after school hours.
We are delighted that with Ben’s help, we are in a position to provide this new sporting avenue for the boys and girls in Cloghroe.
