Gardaí in School!!!
The Gardaí came to visit Senior Infants today. They brought their squad car, a van and two police dogs called Laser and Rex. We got to pet the dogs and go in the police van where we saw the command centre. It was very interesting. It was so funny when the teachers got arrested and the gardaí put handcuffs on them. The gardaí thought they had forgotten the keys!!!!!
Teddy Bear's Picnic
Senior Infants had their Teddy Bear's Picnic today.
Cookies and Lemonade!!!
Ruby's mum came into school today to help us bake chocolate chip cookies, and squeeze fresh lemonade for our Teddy Bear's Picnic. It was a lot of work. We mixed the ingredients for the cookies, and then baked them. The messiest part was the squeezing of the lemons for the lemonade!!! We had such a delicious picnic afterwards. Our classroom still smells of the yummy baking....
Irish Music
We had a lovely start to our day when Miss McCarthy played Irish music on her accordion. She told us all about different types of Irish music: reels, jigs and hornpipes. And we learned about different instruments.
Fun on the astro turf with 6th class
A big thank you to 6th class for setting up all the different stations on the astro turf for us, and for helping us there. It was lots of fun.
Time for Beauty and the Beast
Senior Infants transformed into Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast as they learn all about time in maths...
School Tour to Fota
There was much fun to be had on our school tour to Fota. We saw lots of different animals and learnt many facts about them.What excitement when we discovered a kangaroo with a joey in her pouch!! Our bug hunt in the woods was very interesting and we were starving by the time we got to eat lunch. There were plenty of delicious treats to be seen in lunch boxes. The highlights of the trip included the pirate ship playground and the spin on the Fota train. We were a bunch of sleepyheads on the bus back to school. Definitely a great day.....
PE with 6th Class
Thank you to 6th class for a great PE class on the Astro Turf. We did lots of different stations and made new friends.
FUNdamental Movement Skills
We are having great fun learning fundamental movement skills with Colm from the 'Cork Moves' Infants FUNdamental programme.
Hats Galore!!!!
The boys and girls from 6th class visited us yesterday and we all made paper hats together. It was so much fun and we got to wear our hats home. What a stylish bunch we were heading home...;
Visiting Junior Infants
We visited Junior Infants to see the wonderful rooms they made in Aistear. We asked them lots of questions and they told us all about their artwork.
Easter Egg Hunt
Thank you to Miss Daly and all her helpers for organising an Easter Egg Hunt for Senior Infants. Happy Easter everyone!
Friendship Breakfast
We had a lovely Friendship Breakfast in the Halla this morning. We had brown bread with cheese, fruit juice and grapes. It was so nice sitting and chatting while we were eating. Peter Stringer came to visit and told us how important it is to eat healthy food.
Gardening
We were gardening with Mr. Keady. We planted some spinach.Hopefully it will be ready to harvest before we get our summer holidays.
Friendship Week
It is Friendship Week in Cloghroe school. Here we are all together in Senior Infants, singing 'Count on Me', getting Friendship week off to a good start.
Nature Walk
We went on a nature walk, looking for signs of Spring. We found buds, leaves and flowers. We saw birds building their nests. We discovered lots of little insects and bugs in the grass.and of course we got to run around and play in the glorious Spring sunshine!

6th Class Reading Buddies
Today 6th class visited Senior Infants and read them a selection of lovely stories. Everyone really enjoyed it.
Busy at work for Valentine's Day
Mime
We had a mime artiste and her bodyguard visit us in Senior Infants today. She mimed lots of different things including being stuck in a box and playing a violin. They were really good.
Chinese New Year
We are celebrating the Chinese New Year this week in Senior Infants. Kate and Dylan told us lots about it. They showed us red envelopes and told us how they have lucky money in them. We wrote some chinese characters and learned that it is the Year of the Pig.Jack brought in a chinese calendar. We pretended we were eating with chopsticks. They are really hard to use!!!!
A Special Visitor to the Circus!!
We got a big surprise today when PT Barnum, aka Tom, came to visit us during Aistear today. He is definitely the Greatest Showman. Thank you Tom.
We are all friends in Senior Infants
We had a lovely session in the Halla today, where we read a story about friendship. Then we divided up into four groups, where we chatted about being kind to everyone, how we are all unique and special, we shared ideas and suggestions on how to be a good friend to everyone. It was very interesting. We are good friends in Senior Infants!!!!
More Circus Fun
This week we are making Clown Flip Books and creating 'Escaped' posters as some animals have escaped from the circus and we are on the lookout for them. We are also building our own circuses in Small World, and creating some fabulous designs with pattern blocks. We use a large parachute to make the Big Top tent, we sit inside it and tell jokes, laugh and sing.....so much fun...
The circus is coming to town....
Our theme for Aistear this month is The Circus. We are in training to become clowns, learning to juggle, balance, play tricks and lots of other stuff.

Christmas Fun
We did some lovely Christmas activities with 2nd class. They helped us to make reindeer food, to design a Christmas bauble decoration, to decorate a Christmas cookie, (which we quickly ate up!!!), to use Christmas playdough and to colour Christmas pictures. Some of us posted our pictures to Santa.The boys and girls in 2nd class also took us to the library corner to read us stories. It was great fun. Thank you to 2nd class.

Senior Infants took part in a skipathon in school as part of a whole school initiative to encourage skipping.
Elf on the Shelf
The Elf on the Shelf arrived in school frozen solid! He was actually in a block of ice..... The North Pole must be really cold.......He told us that he will report back to Santa every day so we will try to be very good in school.
Old King Cole
The Midlands Theater came to school today and performed a play called Old King Cole. It was very funny.

Camogie
We had a special assembly in the Halla to celebrate the visit of Inniscarra camogie players. They brought in lots of different cups that they won this year. And they gave us homework off!!!!

Science Week in Senior Infants
rWe were as busy as can be doing science experiments in school. We tested if materials are waterproof on not, and if objects float or sink. It was very interesting.

After our Spooky Stroll to school for Hallowe'en, we had lots of fun showing off our costumes to everyone at Assembly. Later on in the day Junior Infants joined us in the Halla for singing, dancing and spooky fun.....

The Solar System
Fifth Class and Senior Infants did outdoor art together today in the glorious autumnal sunshine. Both classes had learnt all about the solar system in their classrooms and they drew pictures of it with chalk out on the school yard. Fifth Class taught Senior Infants lots of different facts and Senior Infants taught them new things too.
Maths Week
It is Maths week !!! Here we are on a Maths Trail. We counted lots of different things, and found squares, circles, triangles and rectangles. Maths is fun!

Senior Infants are heading off into space in Aistear. We are busy preparing our spaceships, making our own rockets, creating intergalactic passports among lots of other activities. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1........Blast Off!!!

Our Woodland Walk
We went on a big adventure today along our woodland walk, all the way to the lovely outdoor classroom. We sang songs and read a story about Mog the Forgetful Cat. We really enjoyed it on this lovely Autumn day.
Our Vegetable Garden
We went up to the vegetable garden where Mr.Keady helped us pick some onions. We also got beetroot and rhubarb. We helped Mr. Keady pull some weeds. We also found caterpillars. They really like to eat cabbage!!!!
Back to School
It is our first day back at school after the summer holidays. School is lots of fun!!!
