Amber Flag
Cloghroe NS celebrated obtaining their first Amber Flag, promoting Positive Mental Health. Ministers Jan O’Sullivan and Kathleen Lynch jointly launched Well-Being in Primary Schools Guidelines for Mental Health Promotion, in a joint collaboration between the Department of Education and Science and the Health Executive. Obtaining the flag involved the whole school community coming together in order to create a safe, positive and healthy attitude towards our general physical and mental health and well-being. Thank you to our Amber Flag school committee for guiding us in the various activities.
Aladdin
Everyone from Junior Infants to 2nd Class enjoyed a wonderful performance of Aladdin by The West Midland Theatre Group.
Christmas Fun at Dress Rehearsals for 1st and 2nd Class
Inniscarra Under 16s Hurling Team
Inniscarra U 16 boys Hurling Team visited Cloghroe NS on Friday 22nd November . This year they won the Mid Cork Regional Championship and League. The team consisted of 17 Cloghroe past pupils out of a panel of 22 players , 8 of whom came to the school.. One of those Joseph Enright spoke of the long wait they had before success came their way. He advised all the pupils not to give up in whatever sport or activity they were part of. Principal ,Emma Dineen congratulated and thanked the club and the boys in particular for returning to their alma mater .

- 5th classes will attend The Electric Energy Show in Kino, Washington St, Cork. This is an interactive hour long show, aiming to get the audience as hands-on as possible while they learn about all the different types of energy, what wacky things we can do with them and how they are transferred. To finish Dr. How will set her custom built Eccentric Energy Machine in motion and see how many different types of energy will be used to pop one single balloon.

- From CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory, the Star Dome brings the universe into Cloghroe NS school hall. Pupils from 1st-3rd classes will have 30 minute workshops with Frances McCarthy (BCO) discovering the night sky in this portable planetarium!
Tuesday 19 November 2019
- Two Cloghroe NS Science Quiz Teams will participate in the Lifetime Lab Science Quiz in Devere Hall, UCC. Pupils form 4th -6tth classes have been honing their science quiz skills over the last few weeks in preparation for this.

- Keep a close eye on www.cloghroens.com to see what scientific investigations are popular at different class levels in the month of November.
- We would love to hear from family members who work in the STEM sector and would be willing to come in to their child’s class as a Science Visitor. Folk Music
Hands were clapping and feet were tapping as pupils in Cloghroe NS listened to the Folk Group, Leizh, visiting from Brittany, France.

The Lord Mayor's Visit
Cloghroe First on Mayoral Tour!
Cloghroe N.S. was the first school in the newly enlarged city of Cork officially visited by the Lord Mayor Councillor John Sheehan and his wife Aedamar on Tuesday 24th September 2019.
They were welcomed by Principal Emma Dineen who referred to the great sense of community in the school. The pupils sang “Be our Guest” from their recently performed musical and relayed some of the history of the school, while others welcomed the guests in six different native languages showing the multi - cultural nature of the changing Cloghroe landscape.
The Lord Mayor spoke of the joy he feels visiting schools, the warm reception and the proud tradition associated with our schools. He presented a picture of Terence McSwiney and Tomás McCurtain to the school. These Lord Mayors began the school visiting tradition.
In return Ms. Dineen presented a framed copy of the school song and one of the pupils presented the Lady Mayoress with a beautiful plant. The pupils then sang the school song accompanied by one of the teachers as the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress departed for Blarney.

Climate Action
On Friday 20th September In solidarity with millions of people around the world, Cloghroe NS pupils made their voices heard, campaigning for Climate Action. We sang a Climate Song together & vowed to do our little bit to help our planet.

Cloghroe N.S. Says Goodbye!
A presentation by the pupils and staff of Cloghroe NS was made to Fr. Coakley, chairperson of the Board of Management, on Friday 13th September. Ms. Emma Dineen thanked Fr. Coakley for the support he has given to the school over many years, and wished him well in his new home in Buttervant.
Musical Visitors
Blarney Brass and Reed Band visited and played for the pupils of Cloghroe NS on Thursday 12th September. Pupils enjoyed the sound of the trumpet and saxophone to the tunes of Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star is Born and many others. Thanks to Vincent and his co-musicians.

Lord Mayor's Visit
As Cloghroe N.S. is now within the city boundary,we will be visited by the Lord Mayor on Tuesday 24th September at 9.15am.
