Raising our National Flag
To commemorate the centenary anniversary of the 1916 Rising all schools in Ireland raised our National Flag on March 15th. Pupils and staff dressed in costume to create a wonderful atmosphere for this historic day. The pupils' costumes included rebels, leaders, nurses and school children. The entire school gathered outside to raise the tricolour and to sing Amhrán na bhFiann. Pupils then participated in a cultural assembly in the hall which included traditional dancing, singing as Gaeilge and a costume parade. 6th class pupils also read aloud the Proclamation of the Irish Republic to conclude this very special day.
