Comenius Project 2013-2015.
Cloghroe N.S is thrilled to be a part of the Comenius project. The Comenius project is a programme which aims to create greater links and friendships within the European Union. Cloghroe N.S. is working with All Saints School, Manchester and the De Letter School, Antwerp. Last week teachers from both schools visited St.Senan’s School, Cloghroe and were blown away by the talent and educational activities in the school. The pupils ensured our European friends experienced as much of our Irish culture as possible. 2nd class pupils created St.Brigid’s crosses, 5th class pupil’s showcased their G.A.A skills, and 4th class demonstrated the weaving technique. 1st class performed an Irish dance, Senior Infants enjoyed showing off their playground games, Junior Infants invited them to participate in an Aistear session and 6th class even taught our visitors cúpla focail! Furthermore, 1st class pupils received pen pal letters from pupils in Manchester, proving friendships can be created regardless of distance. Cloghroe N.S. is certainly looking forward to strengthening these friendships over the coming months and years.

Go green!
Both pupils and staff are looking forward to our first “Walk to School” day on Friday the 14th of March. The Green Schools committee is very busy working towards our 4th Green Flag, which is based on the travel theme. Pupils will dress in green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and will also contribute to a greener and cleaner environment. Boys and girls will walk, park and stride or car pool to school on the day. To ensure all pupils are prepared for our Walk to School day, local Garda Sean O’Dwyer visited the school and spoke to children about road safety. Keep an eye out for some little leprechauns walking to school on the 14th!
