Yummy Vegetables and Fruit
We visited our school garden and saw the lovely vegetables and fruit that we planted in March. Mr. Keady gave us all some to take home with us. Yummy!!!
Active Schools week
We had great fun doing an obstacle course out in the school yard as part of Actives School Week.Fifth Class helped us as we moved around the course.
Ice-cream in School
The ice-cream van came to school and everyone had a cone. Thank you to the Parents' Association for this special treat, all in keeping with the theme "Frozen"

Tom was mascot for the Blarney United Girls Football team. They won the Kay McGrath Cup 2015. Well done everyone!

Skype
We skyped our friends in De Letter school in Antwerp on Monday, and All Saints School in Manchester on Tuesday. We all sang "You can count on me" together and then we chatted about school.
Comenius-"You Can Count On Me"
On Friday April 24th, all three Comenius schools participated in a very special event. At 12 o'clock in Cork and Manchester and at 1 o'clock in Antwerp pupils in all three schools joined hands and sang our friendship song "Count on Me" by Bruno Mars at the exact same time. This event symbolised the strong bonds and friendships that have been created as a result of Comenius. Pupils really enjoyed this special moment.
On the Farm
Our Aistear theme this month is The Farm. We are learning all about life on the farm and the farmer's work.
Lusitania
Ms. Dineen's class made a model of the Lusitania.
Spring Walk
We went on a Spring walk in the lovely sunshine. We saw lots of signs of Spring. It was fun.

We planted potatoes in school today with Mr. Keady.
A Doctor in the School
Jack's Dad came to school today and told us all about what a doctor does. It was very interesting and lots of fun.

A Trip to the Doctor
This month in Aistear, our classrooms have become busy doctors' surgeries. Our doctors and nurses have been run off their feet tending to sick patients and writing prescriptions. We even made ambulances in junk art to help!

Kayla taught us a dance to"Love is an open door" from "Frozen".
Busy Builders
The Junior Infant classrooms were very busy with the children building their own rooms and houses.
Goodbye Mrs. Dineen
We had a special assembly today to say goodbye to Mrs. Dineen as she leaves school to become President of the INTO. Our new Principal is Ms. McSwiney. Can you see the lovely flowers we gave them?
Mighty Machines
We walked over to see the builders at work at the Church. It was very exciting to watch them and see the big machines at work.
Construction in Aistear
Our classrooms are like building sites as we learn all about building houses. We must wear our hard hats and high visibility jackets for safety.....
Baking Scones
We made scones using the lovely recipe book from our Comenius friends in Manchester. They were delicious.
Elmer meets Woezel
Elmer the elephant met our friend Woezel from Antwerp for some Comenius fun.We told him all about the book the boys and girls in 2nd class wrote about him, and how the children in De Letter school in Antwerp are writing the next part of the story. Then we made our own little Elmers. It was hard work but lots of fun.
Our Comenius Visitor
Woezel, our visiting mascot from De Letter school in Antwerp joined us for Aistear. We had great fun shopping and learning all about the Market.

The ringing of bells and a big HO Ho Ho was heard in school today as Santa made a surprise visit to see the children.

Science Fair
Sixth class had a Science fair in the Halla. It was very interesting.
Comenius Time
It is Comenius time in Cloghroe school. We have teachers visiting from De Letter School, Antwerp and All Saints School in Manchester. They came to visit us in our classrooms and had fun with us at Aistear. They skyped their classes In Manchester and Antwerp and we saw the children in their classrooms. It was fun.
The Restaurant
Our Aistear theme for the month of November was 'The restaurant'. We were learning all about working in a restaurant and being customers. We even made fruit salad and chocolate Krispie buns. They were yummy!
Hallowe'en Fun
A spooky day was had by all in Junior Infants in school on Friday 24th October for Hallowe'en.
Our Nature Walk in Autumn
We went for a lovely nature walk through the school grounds on a sunny autumn morning. We saw leaves changing colour and falling down, lots of berries and nuts, spider webs and a very pretty ladybird.

As part of our “Irish Culinary Customs” book for our Comenius project in the school, Junior Infants made delicious Rice Crispie Buns in the staff room. They were very excited about the experience and Fergie, the Manchester mascot, even got a go mixing the ingredients.

Teddy Bears' Picnic
We had our Teddy Bears' Picnic in school on Friday.We taught our teddies a song and a poem and had lots of fun with them in school.We all had a picnic in the yard together and sang our song with our teddies. It was lots of fun. Our teddies were tired going home from school....
Aistear begins
Junior Infants started Aistear in school this week. Aistear is a structured play programme which allows children to play in smaller groups. Children change stations daily, onto their next adventure.
This month's theme is 'The Home'. Children are pretending to be moms, grandads, babies etc in the role play corner and are doing a fantastic job of walking their babies in the buggies while managing high heels!
