Halla Uí Chonaill

Pride and Joy are the words that come to mind when the staff and pupils of Cloghroe N.S. saw their new hall in 2008. For many years we had physical education outdoors and in the General Purposes room before it became a classroom. To be able to use such a fine indoor facility and have it well equipped was a delight to every teacher and pupil. As much of the effort and hard work was due to Pádraig Ó Chonaill’s perseverance, we decided to name the hall after him. It is affectionately known as” Halla Phádraig”. We also acknowledge the support financial and otherwise of our parent bodies over many years.

The Community of Inniscarra and Cloghroe in particular, benefit considerably from the presence of such a facility. Currently there are activities such as Pilates, Irish Dancing, Karate, Indoor Hurling and Camogie, Hip-Hop dance, Table Tennis, Zumba Fitness among others, using the hall.

In the wider school context, it has enabled us to produce our musicals and Christmas performances at home. We will be eternally grateful to Inniscarra Community Centre for the use of their fine hall over many years. The Parents Association also use the hall for the wonderful  First Communion “Get-together”. In recent years, our School Book Fair has been held in the hall.

All in All, our school hall is a wonderful addition to our school for which we very grateful.
