Spooky Stroll to School Day!
On October 24th pupils from Cloghroe N.S. participated in a “spooky stroll to school”. The walk took place in conjunction with the Green School’s initiative. We are currently working towards our 4th Green Flag which is based on the theme of travel. The spooky stroll was a huge success with over 500 pupils walking to school.
On the day Camilla from Green Schools Ireland visited the classes and conducted a travel survey. A photographer from the Examiner also attended, be sure to keep an eye out for our little celebrities in the coming days on the newspaper, the Irish Examiner website and the Muskerry News!

Green Schools
Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is an international environmental education programme and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.
However, Green-Schools is far more than just an environmental management system. It fosters a strong sense of citizenship and leadership among participants that spreads far outside the school into the wider community.
Cloghroe N.S. worked very hard to earn three green flags over the past number of years, based on the themes of “litter, energy and water”. We are currently working towards our fourth green flag, which is based on “Travel”.
Cloghroe was a sea of green on Friday March 14th. Over 500 boys and girls walked to school dressed in green, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and also to work towards the schools 4th green flag. It was a real team effort with mums, dads, grannies, granddads and even pet dogs joining in on the fun! Pupils are looking forward to their next “walk to school” day already.
