February Events

  • Third and fourth class hurlers and camogie players are partaking in indoor blitzes run by Sciath na Scol during the month of February.
  • We would like to congratulate both our Junior and Senior Quiz Teams who represented our school at the recent Credit Union Quiz in Scoil Mhuire gan Smál, Blarney, on Friday 27th January. We are delighted to report that our Junior Team won the Under 11 division and will now represent our school in the County Finals.
  • Cloghroe N.S. will be well represented at this year's Scór na bpáistí with a solo singer, a solo instrumentalist, an Irish dancer and an instrumental group.
  • Transition Year students from Ballincollig Community School are training our fifth class children in Spike Ball. This is in preparation for the upcoming blitz in Ballincollig on February 17th.
  • Sixth class children are training for the upcoming Primary Schools Basketball Tournament in Neptune and Parochial Hall on February 14th and 16th.
  • Our Active School’s campaign is doing very well. On February 10th, in line with Operation transformation, we will do 10 @ 10 – 10 minutes of exercise throughout the school. Morning Muscles is back up and running on Monday and Wednesday mornings before school. The children of 3rd and 4th class are very enthusiastic and have been making a great effort to attend and are giving it their all!
  • On February 3rd, we will have a Biodiversity Display in the hall and all children will get a chance to visit. Thanks to Ms. Twomey and he Green Schools Committee for organising this event.
  • The boys and girls at Cloghroe N.S. have been learning fantastic new dances with the girls from the 'Spraoi' team. They have also been getting active in Folk Dance classes and are loving the opportunities to express themselves through dance. We are also really enjoying our "Folk Dance" classes on Thursdays where we are experiencing different dance styles from around the world. 
  • Fourth Class will visit the Lifetime Lab next week.
  • We will be studying Internet Safety in the lead up to Internet Safety Day on February 6th.
  • Guitar Lessons: have started during lunch break on Wednesdays in Mr. Whitty’s room for sixth class children.
