Active School Week 2021
From Wednesday 9th to Friday 11th of June we enjoyed three action packed days for our Active School Week. With running challenges, basketball and soccer blitzes followed by a Sports Day our school was a hive of activity for the three days. We kicked off the week with Wellness Wednesday. Children were given the opportunity to practice mindfulness through yoga, meditation and colouring. Jersey Thursday allowed children to show off their favourite sports jerseys with Inniscarra and Cork GAA jerseys being particularly popular. Our Sports Day on Fun Friday brought a close to our Active School week with tennis, badminton, target games, relays and many more exciting activities.
Active School Week 2019
This year the focus for Active School Week is to get people running/skipping/walking with the 'Mile A Day Challenge'. In our school we have marked out trails of various lengths to allow the classes to complete different distances depending on their age and fitness levels.
Running Before School
The week is off to a great start with lots of children from Junior Infants to 6th class taking part in a running initiative in the morning before school. The children are rewarded with certificates for the distances they cover each morning.

Teachers and children unite in soccer tournament to finish Active Schools Week on a high.
A selection of teachers, SNAs and children from 4th to 6th class made up 4 teams to take part in a soccer tournament on Friday of our Active Week on the astroturf pitch. This was a great way to finish our Active Week as the entire school came to watch and cheer on their chosen team. Great fun was had by all!
3rd class win Sketchers Active Class challenge
The Spraoi team together with Sketchers Ireland set up a competition for the classes to encourage tem to get active in the lead up to Active Schools Week. The two 3rd classes really impressed the team and won Sketchers goodie bags for their great efforts!
Whole school adventure!
On Wednesday of our Active School Week all of the staff and children went on a walk outside of the school grounds. This was very exciting for the younger children in particular and the older children went on a big walk all the way to Tower village and back again! Well done to all!
