Creating Our Own Storybooks for Junior Infants
Mrs Murray's class were very busy composing, editing and illustrating their own children's book for Junior Infants. We began by studying the content of our favourite infant books and began composing our own stories. We thoroughly enjoyed reading the finished products to Mrs Curtin's Junior Infants today.
A Falabella miniature horse visits our school!
The Falabella miniature horse is one of the smallest breeds of horse in the world,seldom taller than 8 hands (32 inches,81cm) in height.The Falabella ,despite its size ,is not a pony ,but rather is a miniature horse!
Young Calves came to the school .
Young calves arrived at school today .Pupils from all classes younger & older got an opportunity to go up close to these farm animals & even feed them some calf nuts.Pupils learnt that these two beauties are identical twins & that their mother carried them for nine months.

A Sound Science Workshop by Ms. Dineen's Fifth Class Budding Young Scientists!
Fifth class pupils did some creative & wonderful experiments based on how sound works in our world. They discovered through investigation & their experiments that sound travels through vibration,that it travels better through solids than air & that it travels under water.They created music through their own homemade instruments,using cardboard,elastic bands, straws,glass jars & water. They also made their own telephones & listened to an entire orchestra using string & an oven rack! Pupils enjoyed learning about sound in a fun way!

Fifth class pupils are currently enjoying modern dance routines with their teacher ,Claudia.They are learning fast and are already showcasing fabulous dance moves and routines on the floor.This is part of the school curriculum under their Physical Education class and they benefit from the exercise in a fun way while also learning new dance movements . REMEMBERING THE 1916 EASTER RISING
Fifth class pupils in Ms. Dineen's class have been busy remembering & reflecting on the Easter 1916 Rising.They have been reading the novel by Gerard Whelan ,'THE GUNS of EASTER',studying the 1916 Proclamation & reading some of the articles in the newspapers in 1916.They have just completed writing their own Proclamation,2016 for Ireland of today.The young generations have been truly inspired by the 1916 visionaries & have a vision for a better Ireland in the future.

Traditional Music Workshop
Eoin O Riabhaigh, uilleann piper and Matt Cranitch, traditional fiddle player renowned in Ireland and abroad performed a musical workshop for pupils in Cloghroe national school. Pupils enjoyed listening to their traditional tunes. Eoin and Matt have performed extensively with various groups at concerts and festivals, as well as on radio and television, and have made a number of highly-acclaimed recordings.
Gymnastics
Fifth class have been working hard on their gymnastics skills. In groups the pupils practiced their own sequences which culminated in a most enjoyable performance.
World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day, Mrs. Murray's 5th class students visited Mrs. Curtin's Junior Infants and they all read storybooks together. It was very enjoyable. Some of the 5th class remember when they were in Senior Infants with Mrs. Curtin and 6th class students came and read to them.
Miss McAuliffe's Fifth Class Artists bringing Spring to the classroom!!!
Spring is in the air in Miss Mc Auliffe's classroom. We've been hard at work bringing nature into the classroom. First we painted a tree trunk and branches and then we decorated it with brightly coloured flowers. We recycled plastic bottles and used the bottom half for printing flowers. ( Nina, Tadhg and Tim)
Healthy Eating and Cooking in Miss McAuliffe's fifth class
Miss McAuliffe's fifth class are focusing on healthy eating at the moment so we decided to give our culinary skills a try! We made delicious healthy pitta pizzas using wholemeal pittas, passata, cheese, ham, pineapple and herbs. There were scrumptious smells coming from the school kitchen! (Nina, Tadhg and Tim)
Internet Safety
During Internet Safety week in school, we learnt a lot about safe internet practice.

Fifth class pupils are currently researching the causes and effects of the 1916 Easter Rising. These young historians have engaged with primary sources such as newspapers, photographs and eye witness accounts and are now ready to present their findings.
The Maya
Pupils enjoyed exploring all aspects of the Mayan civilisation, including astronomy and mathematics, farming, writing styles, as well as the civilisation's ultimate decline. Pupils recreated traditional Mayan masks and sculpted Mayan statues.
Fifth class depicted two of their favourite characters from the story Bradley Chalkers, using charcoal.
SPIKE BALL BLITZ 2015
Congratulations to 5th class pupils who won the Spikeball Blitz ,in B.C.S. on FRIDAY,23rd OCT.2015
Pupils in 5th class participated in the Spikeball Blitz held in B.C.S. on Oct.23nd,2015.They played against six other Primary Schools and were the outright winners for the second year in a row.They also received a prize for the best poster in the Art Category.Congratulations to all the teams who participated .They thoroughly enjoyed their day out and demonstrated excellent team skills ,sportsmanship and camaraderie.We are very proud of their wonderful achievement.
