Indoor Hurling Blitz
Third Class went to Nemo Rangers for an indoor Hurling Blitz. Well done to all the boys!
Genius Hour
Third class pupils exceeded all expectations with the quality of their January Genius Hour projects. During genius hour students of all levels are empowered to explore their own passions. The children firstly create a project proposal and explore different research methodologies. The pupils then research their topics both in school and home and create their finished project/product. Pupils engage with their projects for one hour per week for three to four weeks. As pupils chose their subject matter and presentation method themselves, there was a diverse range of topics covered in January. These topics included recycling, baking, dinosaurs and rugby teams to mention but a few! It was a wonderful opportunity to share knowledge with their peers. We are already looking forward to seeing your February projects!
Grandparents Day
Third class pupils had a wonderful day celebrating Grandparents Day, in conjunction with Catholic Schools Week. Grandparents attended mass with their grandchildren in St.Senan’s Church and then returned to the school hall for some tea and cakes. Pupils had the opportunity to ask their Grandparents questions and listen to stories about their childhood and school days. It was a fantastic day for pupils, grandparents and the wider parish community.
Cheque Presentation
Well done to Third Class pupils in Cloghroe N.S. who sang beautiful Christmas Carols outside O’Leary’s SuperValu, Tower, in December. The children raised €300 for The Irish Cancer Society. Pupils were delighted to present the cheque to former school principal, Mr. Pádraig O’Conaill on behalf of the Irish Cancer Society. Both staff and parents are very proud of the pupil’s generosity and good will. Maith sibh rang a trí
