Happy Christmas Everyone!
What a lovely time we had in second class in preparation for the festive season. Even Santa Claus stopped by to wish us all a Merry Christmas!
Dress Rehearsal
Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
With Christmas drawing near, we are getting very excited! Practice for our annual Christmas play is well under way and we are busy singing and performing on stage. We created some festive Snowman to decorate our classroom using paint, and chalk.
Science Week in Second Class
Second class had a fabulous time exploring lots of new aspects of Science during Science Week. The children had a visit from a microbiologist who taught them all about bacteria and a scientist who created Lava Lamps and blew up a balloon using vinegar and baking soda with them. As part of Science Week the children also used their newly acquired coding skills to create their very own stories using Scratch Junior. A fantastic experience for all!
A week in Space
Blast off! Second Class were launched into Space this week. We learned many interesting facts about the Planets in our Solar System and even listened to a real astronaut explain what living in Space is really like. He explained how we might run into some trouble brushing out teeth! We went back in time and read all about the race to Space and about the moon landing. We put the important events into a timeline and watched the first men land on the moon. We even wrote letters to our families about our trip to Space.
Happy Halloween from Second Class!
Autumn leaves are falling
Autumn really is the most colourful season of the year. We took a walk through the school grounds noting the beautiful colours and looked at how the once green leaves have changed colour. We discussed what happens the animals as winter nears and food becomes more scarce. We took a close look at migration and hibernation. With the Autumn colours as our inspiration, we painted trees in the style Gustav Klimt. Take a look!
