Reading to Junior Infants - 31/5/17
First class paid a visit to Junior Infants today to read some books to them. They books we chose were some of our Guided Reading books from earlier this year. We hope Junior Infants enjoyed the experience as much as we did! Well done boys and girls.

We are celebrating Active Schools Week this week. We are taking part in many fun activities to get us up and moving. Each day First Class do a workout along with Junior & Senior Infants and Second Class. It was raining on Monday so we did our exercises in the hall but since then the weather has improved so we have been able to complete our workout in the fresh air. As well as this we had a great time skipping in the hall on Monday. On Wednesday we all headed off for a walk. Our route took us up a part of Tower Hill before we looped around and made our way back to school. On Thursday we completed an orienteering activity around the school grounds. It certainly has been a very healthy and active week.

Taking to the stage at Cór Fhéile na Scol 2017
Congratulations to the boys and girls in Rang I who represented the school in Cór Fhéile na Scol in the City Hall on Tuesday 4th April. The children performed some short scenes from "Annie" and they also sang some of the well known songs from this musical such as "Tomorrow", You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile", "Hard Knock Life" and "Le Chéile sa Deireadh" (which is an Irish translation of "Together At Last/I Don't Need Anything But You". A huge amount of practice went into this performance and we are very proud of the children for all the hard work they put into this. Well done to all!!
Magnets
We spent some time exploring magnets. We looked at magnets of various shapes and sizes. We investigated what kinds of materials magnets were attracted to. As well as this we investigated the strength of magnets by checking to see if they would attract items made from metal through another item made from a different material, such as plastic, cardboard and fabric.
